DELTA EXPERIENCE 2007
Who are we?? we are the HONOURABLES!!
HOUNOURABLES ARE COOL..
even though we had only 2 guys and 8 girls(one left for china, 2nd guy came later)
i tell you we are really awesome!!
You can say that this is the first camp that really taught me stuff-like how to be a good class leader, and my values in life.. Even getting everyone over the WALL is something can can teach us values like communication and teamwork and that we've got to trust ourselves to get over the wall as everyone else is behind supporting and pulling us over the wall!! SAFETY is paramount!!
I've learnt how to trust myself and believe in myself through the camp and i sort of broke the barrier of being scared of raising my hands to volunteer as i realised that its not the great who volunteer, but for those only who really wants to share. Also, even though its hard to make the first move, we have to have faith and take the initiative to do it, cause it is the first step to make whatever we want to do a success!! And lastly, what we assume people know, may not be what people will know. Therefore we have to constantly check and communicate more if not there will be a lost of information!!
I'm also proud to be the group leader of the Land Expedition. I'm super proud of Honourable.. We met our target of reaching Sembawang Campsite at 4am in the morning after setting off at 11.50!! Also, i want to thank everyone for cheering with me and having absolute faith in me for leading everyone to sembawang park, even though my cheers are stupid and i sometimes cheer wrongly and i almost went the wrong way(thanks to our GIs for coughing)!!
The success of our land ex is not only the effort of the leader, but the effort of the group who was determined and willing to achieve that common goal in mind. As the leader, i realised that my job is to read the map, checking that we are on the right path and also to spur and motivate everyone one which is a high essential job. If we do not motivate but die off, who will be the energy source of the group?? Also, a member of the group, my job is to trust and follow the teammate who knows the road well!!
I guessed we are very lucky as in every activity, there is always someone knowing alot about it..like huili and clarence who knew 3/4 of the road to sembawang park. Also Rachel who was the pacer of the group. I also thanked my group for trusting my sense of direction for the last quarter of the journey to sembawang park!! and also, i want to say that its really everyone effort which chipped in to our success.. I"M REALLY REALLY PROUD OF YOU GUYS!!
Its like i have gone thru thousand of camp, and this is the only camp which somehow knock alot of sense in me.. It is rather meaningful as it taught me not just fun but stuff that can be called substance that will stay in my head forever.
Been slacking as a class leader since i was appointed last month. i thought like i dont have to do anything, but only SL as that was the reason why my teacher appointed me. but there is something more to it. Something else i got from this camp that AJC is not a bad school after all..it may seem old, boring and stuff, but its not only if we played our part..
Seriously, when i got my school posting, i was like cursing why am i here again for the 2nd intake, and why the school does not have soccer for me to join, but i realised now its more then just soccer, odac, and studying.. and i cant believe i've been psycho-ed convinced to tell my class people to participate ACTIVELY when there is any activity in the days to come.
One thing i want bring back is the disciplined life of the camp..not so slack, yet time is used not wasted.but i really hope i can enforced this discipline in me.cos thats the freedom we have now when we have break camp..time is really a luxurious good!!
missing DE and the morning worms meal.
missing the WALL and the dustbins.
missing the floor for which we slept on.
missing saying HI to Mr Toe(charmine toe)!!
missing Honourable and its wonderful people(groupmates and our Instructors!!).
I really respect my instructors because they respect and make sure our welfare is well taken care off. They do not believed in inposing coporal punishment on us when we are wrong but onl to patiently guiding us to the right path!!
Also, they really helped us alot esp in the proposal part for the SL project. Their rational-they wanted to give us a good experience for SL project, and letting us experience something more then visiting homes and agencies!! Therefore my group and group 9 had the chance of going to Changi Airport. Even though i got bullied by a kid, I really thanked God for this project!! It made my eyes opened more!!
Life has to move on, but the memories of the camp will simply stay on!!
